Did you know fitness buffs are turning to vaping CBD for better workouts?

He’s not alone as many fitness enthusiasts and weekend athletes are adding this hemp-based product as a nutritional supplement to their daily fitness regimen. 

The human body naturally produces the cannabinoids of 2-AG and anandamide which help to expedite the regenerative process of torn muscle tissue that occurs during heavy lifting sessions and high-intensity workouts.  The faster that this muscle tissue repairs itself, the faster we see results in the gym.

Regrettably, when our bodies fail to produce these two, very specific cannabinoids, the recovery of torn muscle tissue slows, muscle gains plateau, and our motivation to hit the gym sometimes begins to weaken.  Perhaps even more noteworthy is the fact that this naturally occurring, depleted production of 2-AG and anandamide is often the direct result of these high-intensity workouts themselves.  The more we workout, the less cannabinoids that our bodies produce, and the slower our muscle mass builds. 

Hemp-based CBD versus marijuana-based vaping

Luckily, athletes like UFC Champion Pettis are discovering that hemp-based CBD products contain over 100 different cannabinoids which also speed muscle recovery, boost the immune system, and even improve the digestive and respiratory systems.  The endocannabinoid system is directly responsible for regulating nearly every major function and system of the human body.

The cannabinoids found in both hemp and marijuana plants can even reduce the pain and inflammation associated with muscle rejuvenation caused by intense fitness routines and endurance sports.  But there are several different kinds of CBD products.  So, how do you know which one is for you?

  • Marijuana-derived CBD

Marijuana derivatives contain much higher quantities of the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.   In fact, some marijuana-based CBD products can be over 30 percent THC, and it’s the THC content that has the potential to produce psychotropic side effects.  The last thing that a fitness buff wants during heavy workouts and high intensity training sessions is that dizzying, head-spinning sensation of feeling high.

  • Hemp-derived CBD

Because marijuana derivatives can contain as much as 30 percent THC, the U.S. government still classifies weed and weed-based products as federally controlled substances.  Even though several states have legalized marijuana either recreationally or medically, the feds still consider pot to be technically illegal.  Hemp-based CBD is different.  It contains about 100 times less THC or about 0.3 percent overall.  Therefore, the U.S government does not classify hemp or hemp-based CBD as a federally controlled substance.  The lower levels of THC also mean that the user rarely – if ever - gets high from vaping it before a workout.  Some products labeled as CBD isolates are even 100 percent THC-free.

Improved workouts through better sleep and faster pain relief

Another factor that sometimes results in a fitness enthusiast’s diminished ability to workout at optimum capacity is the soreness and inflammation caused by the heavy lifting from a prior training session.  If you’re battling pain and discomfort, it’s hard to workout at peak performance levels, which only further slows muscle mass gains and other fitness goals.  Prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications can sometimes help relieve the pain, but they can often come with their own nasty side effects, including the following.

  • Upset stomach or nausea
  • Acne outbreaks and other skin irritations
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Vision problems
  • Indigestion and bloating
  • Hearing disorders like a consistent ringing in the ears
  • Dependency and addiction issues
  • Liver and kidney damage

Hemp-based CBD products are all-natural and come with almost no negative side effects - in fact, quite the contrary.  Hemp-based CBD provides one very positive side effect which specifically benefits the avid fitness buff.  It promotes a more restful night’s sleep necessary for expedited muscle repair and rejuvenation.    The hemp plant is not only a natural anti-inflammatory, its also high in antidepressant and antioxidant properties which promote a well-balanced body, mind, and spirit.
